HOW TO LAND ON A COMET

When she leaves the pool after the fourth class, she is positive she is not coming back for the fifth class. She is worried she is taking too much time for herself. She’ll never get the back float. When she tries it her shoulders are pinned near her ears, she is so tense. Her face starts to go under. And standing up from a backfloat? That likelihood is even more farfetched than landing on a comet over 300 million miles from earth and taking a few pictures. Ugly old comet leaking water. Why is it leaking water? Why hasn’t the water run out by now? There’s a theory that a comet brought water to earth. Must have been a mighty big comet.

She returns for class five. It’s a long voyage. It can happen.
