Ab, away from, surd sound.
Deaf, literally, though sourd in French means deaf. It’s a bit confusing. Do the roots imply that the unhearing are unsound, a judgment faulty in the way that the left-handed were once seen as sinister?
Out of tune, one etymology proposes. An absurd suggestion, but welcome.
What is true: like my siblings, I’m going deaf.
Watch this little video; find the instance of the absurd:
Bob, E, and I are on the patio getting what sun there is to be gotten in my shady garden in our cool gray city of love, when our drifting conversation is broken by a startling, loud voice from beyond the fence above:
“What a bunch of assholes!”
Who in our peaceful neighborhood would be so worked up so early in the day? And who was she calling a bunch of assholes? Us?
“She said apples,” E said.
Certainly a manageable circumstance if my experiences can adequately serve as a guide. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s don’t be discouraged; you, too, can have fun with it: http://thingsimind.tumblr.com/post/4977937634/a-rare-breed-perhaps
Thanks, Ryan. Have fun with it is the way to go.
What? What’d you say? Your siblings? No way. Just ask Mike!
LOL.
